Curtains and Drapes

Curtains and Drapes for your living room

Newest Tech, Gadgets and DIY at 50% Manza Store https://manzastore.com/

Apart from their functional use, curtains and drapes bring out the best in terms of visual appeal in a room. They add to its aesthetic value and help highlight the remaining furniture and accessories in the room. Simply put, curtains and drapes can be used as a focal point, or as a backdrop to accentuate a focal point you are trying to create. So how can you decide what kind of curtains and drapes are more suited to a living room than any other room in a house? Let's take a look.

Visit the Ultimate Books Library
The choice of drapes for living rooms depends on the purpose you want to use them for. Of course, the first one is to block out the sunlight, but the choice of curtains depends on the amount of sunlight entering the room. For instance, if it is the morning sunlight, you would choose curtains that allow this light to filter into your living room, while you enjoy a cup of tea early in the morning. For this purpose, you could choose light cotton, sheer, or lace curtains. However, window treatments also have to provide privacy during the evening. So having a dual set would be ideal, for you to enjoy your mornings, and privacy in the evenings. On the other hand, if it is the rays of the setting sun that make it through your living room, choosing a darker shade would be ideal to block out these harsh rays. As such, thick cotton, or silk curtains would be a great choice. Silk curtains are slightly difficult to maintain, but since your living room is where you entertain, choosing rich curtains is a good investment. The living room is also the focal point of your house, which is why all measures toward appropriate home decoration should be followed.

As mentioned earlier, apart from the functional use of curtains, they are also used for the purpose of decorating the living room decorating. If you wish to use curtains as a focal point in your living room, then the ideal way to do so is to choose a good pattern and print on the curtains. For instance, a curtain with floral prints would do well in a traditionally decorated living room, while a modern living room would be able to carry off curtains and drapes with geometric prints beautifully. Considering the manner in which you want to drape the curtains is important. For instance, do you want luxurious valances, or do you simply want your curtains to stand out on their own, on a beautiful curtain rod? It is only your personal choice that will matter here.

Colors you choose for your curtains are also important. While the light and privacy factor will help determine the color you choose, the overall decorating pattern and color scheme of the living room will be another factor you will consider. Further, if you want to put up curtains on large windows, keep in mind that the color you choose should not be too dark. A large span of a dark color will make your living room look dull and steal away all the charm it holds. All this together will help you decide the kinds of curtains and drapes you want to choose from.

Finally, the shape of your windows are a big deciding factor. Bay window treatments will vary from window treatments for arched windows. Again, both can be as simple or as luxurious as you want them to. Further, while you may choose shorter curtains for windows, it is ideal to have drapes for French doors to give them the grand look they deserve.

Living room : Paint

Perfect Paint for your living room

Newest Tech, Gadgets and DIY at 50% Manza Store https://manzastore.com/

Wall paint is an important aspect of interior decorating. A paint is often responsible for creating the first impression of any home. Needless to say, a lot of thought should go into the process of choosing paint colors for a living room. Interestingly, this also happens to be the most challenging task, as you have to sift through hundreds of color templates. It is never easy to predict how a particular color on paper template will actually look on your wall. However, if you know a few basics of interior painting, then choosing paint colors for living room wouldn't be as difficult a task.

Factors to Consider while Choosing Paint Colors

Size of the room is the first factor that one needsVisit the Ultimate Books Library to consider before buying a paint. Wall paint has a lot of influence upon the size of the room. Generally speaking, darker hues draw your attention downward, creating an impression of smaller space, whereas lighter hues create a more roomy feel by lifting your focus upward. Hence, homeowners with smaller living rooms are usually encouraged to go for soothing colors for wall paint. Those who have the luxury of space can go for lighter or darker color schemes as per their taste. Another factor to be considered while choosing living room painting colors, is source of natural illumination. If you have ample sunlight coming through one of the windows of living room, you can play with almost any shade of paint color. However, if your living room relies heavily on artificial illumination, it is best to stick to basic, neutral shades.

The theme of your home décor, is another thing that you might want to consider before investing in living room colors. The wall paint in living room should be in sync with the rest of home décor. Besides, the color of furniture, flooring, curtains and drapes also matter a lot when choosing interior paint colors for your home. It is best to go for light paint colors for living room with dark furniture and vice versa. Rooms with dull flooring and drapes can look good with intense colors on the wall.

Earthy Warm Paint Colors for Living Room

Warm colors such as red, orange, butterscotch yellow, canary yellow are apt for country style decorating. These paint color schemes create a very warm and cozy ambiance. However, instead of painting the entire living room in these colors, it is recommended that you paint only one wall in such bold color and paint the rest in its subdued version. Earthy colors such as brown, forest green can also be considered for painting living room walls, provided you use the right amount of dye. Remember, the darkness of shade is not to be mistaken with the darker colors towards the end of spectrum. The darkness or lightness typically refers to the amount of dye in the paint. You can very much use a dark color such as chocolate brown or crimson for your small living room as long as you keep the amount of dye to bare minimum.

Contemporary Paint Colors for Living Room

Modern, contemporary living rooms are characterized by use of subtle interior paint colors. The entire emphasis is on creating a sleek and streamlined look for the living room. Steel gray, white, black are often preferred over the usual colors. Pastel shades also look apt on the walls of a contemporary living room. Lime green, purple, coffee are some other paint colors for living room and kitchen of a contemporary home. These paint color combinations look best when teamed with neutral furnishings and flooring.

Thus, the choice of paint colors for living room decorating is dependent upon several factors. Generally, it is recommended that you go for paint colors that can go with any type of furnishing, as these are the items you replace frequently during the life of a wall paint color.

In most modern houses there is always a tussle for space. From the bedrooms to the kitchen, and even the living space, you can be at a loss when it comes to ensuring that your house does not look like it is stuffed with furniture and there is absolutely no space to move around. Decorating a narrow yet long living room can be quite a tough task. But, if you plan your layout well in advance, then you can create a space that looks like it should be featured in a design magazine. In this article, we give you some ideas for long living rooms that will help you create the living area of your dreams.

Before the actual designing it is important that you make a layout for the room in question. Ensure that you measure the room properly, and then create a scale so as to replicate the proportions on paper. It is important that while planning the living room design, you ensure that the area is balanced and does not seem furniture heavy. Even with a long living area that can seem quite difficult to fill in, you can create a space that will not only be gorgeous but also enviable. A long living room can often pose serious problems while designing the space, but if you know the tips behind proper furniture arrangement, wall colors and choosing the right accessories, you should have a beautiful room in your house.

A tip that many interior designers will suggest is to always use a paper or graph layout of the actual room. Use paper cutouts to represent each piece of furniture that you own and then place them on the graph paper to create different decors. Choose a design that is aesthetically pleasing to your eye, uses the space well, and creates a conversation space that can easily seat at least five people.

Instead of having one conversation space which can accommodate many people, try and create multiple areas for seating. Make one wall the focal point of the living area by creating a fireplace there or having your television mounted there.

One thing that you would definitely want to avoid with a long living room is to ensure that it does not start looking like a hallway. This is why it is important that you create seating area that is not affixed to the walls, but is floating in the middle area. You can also choose to create a reading area beside a window or a fireplace with a comfortable large armchair placed alongside a tiny table with a lamp on it. This could be a great conversation point.

Colors and textured walls can go a long way in changing the character of the room and also to give it an illusion of space. Lighter colors always work well if you want to make the room appear larger as do mirrors. Use a wall color that can highlight the talking point of the room, which could be any accessory that you think is the most attractive piece in the room.

While choosing accessories for the room, first think about those things that are utilitarian and which you need in your room. These include the furniture for the room and the lighting in the form of lamps. Choosing lamps will ensure that you have great lighting for each of your reading spaces. Use small tables to create anchors for floating sofas and keep coffee table books on these or even smaller knickknacks.

One accessory that works very well in any long room would be a mirror that can create an illusion of space in the room. Using ornate mirrors can also add to the attractiveness of the room in general.
These are just some of the tips that you can use if you are looking for ideas for long living rooms. Use these to create a space that not only you are proud of but also makes your guests extremely envious.

Design a living room: Sectional Sofas

Design a living room: Sectional Sofas

Newest Tech, Gadgets and DIY at 50% Manza Store https://manzastore.com/

A sectional sofa is something that every home should have. They have the quality to blend into any type of environment (provided that you choose the right one!). If you think that you won't get sectional sofas, which are apt for the dimensions of your living room, then you are wrong. There is such a great variety in the design and style of sectional sofas, that you are bound to find one that is apt for your home.

People often tell me that their living room is not the same since they brought home a sectional sofa. They say, that now, everyone in their home can sit "together" comfortably. This is the probably the best feature of sectional sofas, there is room for everyone. A good sofa can become the highlight of your home, it can be your relaxation hub.

In order to get the right effect, you should arrange your sofa well. The arrangement does not entirely depend on the positioning of the sofa, it is highly influenced by the things around it. To make it easy for you, I have divided this section into 2 parts:
Before You Choose the Sofa
Choosing the right sofa is the key to the perfect arrangement. Here are a few things that you should do before buying the sofa:

Measure
If you have a big living room, then you may not have to worry about the size of the sofa, but if you do not have too much space, then you will have to take the measurements of your room. It is always good to measure the dimensions of your living room, which will help you understand whether the sofa that you choose will fit properly in the room, and not make your room look stuffed. Taking measurements will also help, if you want to get the sectional sofa customized.

Visualize
This is the most fun, and perhaps the most challenging part too. It is fun as, this is the part where you actually decide the color and design of your sectional sofa, and it is challenging because if you go wrong here, you might end up having a sofa that does not suit your living room. Look at your living room and visualize different types (round sofa, curved sofa, L-shaped sofa, etc.) of sectional sofas in your room, in different colors. You will eventually (after several discussions and arguments) understand what you really want in your living room.

After You Bring Home the Sofa
Now that you have brought home the sectional sofa that will suit your living room, you should arrange it properly. Here are a few tips that you should use while arranging:

Place the sofa exactly opposite to the focal point (fireplace, television, beautiful view, etc.) of your living room.
It should not obstruct any windows or doors.
It will look better if there is no contact between your sofa and the walls of your living room.
The sofa should not obstruct the movement of the people.
Place a coffee table or an ottoman in front of the sofa.
If your sofa has a chaise, then place a small table next to it, to add to the convenience.
If you have a love chair next to your sofa, then place a lamp between them.
You can also place plants near your sofa, but see that the plants do not intrude the space of your sofa.

Once you are done arranging your sofa, go ahead and relax on it! A sectional sofa will surely add to the charm of your living room. See that you take good care of it!

 by Bonnie P Carrier
As the temperature outside begins to drop, bring warmth to every room in your home with Fall Decor

Living Room:Visit the Ultimate Books Library

Get cozy while you spend time with family and friends watching movies, playing games or just watching the leaves turn color.

  • Replace lighter summer window treatments with ones that are heavier in texture with deeper fall colors. There are several colors to choose from ranging from gold, sage or moss green, sienna or wheat.
  • Swap out lighter decorative pillows with deeper colored ones. Either a solid color or choose a print to coordinate with the fall season - Fall leaves, Colorful Mums etc.
  • Drape cozy throws over the arms or backs of furniture or place a large wicker basket in a corner filled with comfy throws in different colors - solids or plaids - and textures - Chenille, Flannel, Wool.
  • Create a fall centerpiece for the coffee table. Place a pillar candle (gold, orange, tan or dark green) inside a large glass hurricane candle vase; surround the candle with amber colored glass stones.
  • Take it one step further by making your own candle ring. Use a grapevine wreath larger in diameter than the vase, surround the sides and top with fall silk foliage (flowers, leaves, berries etc.) place wreath on table and set the vase inside.
  • Candles just seem to fit with fall decorating, so make sure to use them all over your home. Jar, votive or tea lights in warm scents like spiced apple, pumpkin, cider, cedar or cinnamon will give your home a wonderful aroma. Another way to achieve this is by placing bowls of fall-scented potpourri around the home.
  •
  • More ideas for quick centerpieces are to take wooden, glass or copper bowls then fill with gourds - faux or real - fall leaves, pine cones and berries. Any type of woven basket would also look great.
  • Substitute existing art work with pieces that have a fall theme
  • Drape silk fall leaf garlands around hanging picture frames.

Remodeling Kitchens:

In most cases the kitchen is the heart of the home so this fall make it a truly warm and cozy place to spend time with family and friends.

  • Covering the dining table with a plaid or solid color tablecloth in fall colors, then adding coordinating placemats and napkins will get you off to a great start with your Fall decor.
  • Wooden bowls or baskets filled with fruit, nuts, gourds or mini pumpkins will add a touch of fall to countertops or as a centerpiece on the table.
  • Faux fruit, gourds and pumpkins are made so life like today it’s hard to tell the difference. This is also cost effective as they are able to be used year after year.
  • Display serving pieces with Fall accents on top of cabinets, countertops or lined up along a shelf.
  • Several pots of autumn flowers set on the table surround by fall leaves also make a pretty centerpiece. Use either live or silk foliage.
  • Drape leaf or berry swags around chandeliers, these swags also look great on top of overhead cabinets.
  • Create vignettes on overhead cabinet tops with pumpkins and gourds. Place several groups of each nestled within leaf or berry swags.
  • Hang colorful fall wreaths on the walls or on the inside of the kitchen door.
  • Hang fall related artwork.
  • Place rugs with a fall print in front of sink and doors leading in and out of the kitchen.
  • Dinnerware with either a fall print or in a solid color will add that cozy feeling to mealtimes.
  • Candles and potpourri in fall scents will give the kitchen a wonderful aroma all day long.
  • Small berry rings hung on the knobs of cabinets and drawers will add an extra punch of fall color.

Bedroom Ideas:

As the bed is the focal point in most bedrooms, start your fall makeover here. Create a bed that just makes you want to climb into at the end of a long day, get cozy and read a book, decorating magazine or watch a little TV.
  • Nothing says warm and cozy better than flannel. A comforter in a solid fall color or plaid and flannel sheets will send you off to sleep in comfort, of course on those chilly mornings you may have a bit of trouble getting out of this warm cocoon.
  • Load up the bed with pillows. Use several different sizes of bed pillows - kings, standard, euro - finish off with decorative toss pillows in different sizes. This gives the bed a cozy comfortable look, plus makes reading in bed a real pleasure with so much padding behind your heard.
  • Pillowcases can be used on extra pillows in place of shams - color changes are easier. Use coordinating colors pulled from the comforter, window treatments and sheets.
  • Finish off the bed with an extra blanket or two - one size smaller than comforter - folded up at the end of the bed. This is perfect for those lazy afternoon naps.
  • Exchange lighter summer curtains with drapes that are deeper in color and texture. Try a layered affect by adding a coordinating shear under the drapes for a cozier look.
  • Add accessories like candles, potpourri and fall floral arrangements to dresser tops and night stands.
  • Swap out art work or hang a fall theme wreath on the closet door.
Bathrooms:
Whether it’s a small powder room or the master bath, give the bathrooms in your home a fall makeover all their own.

  • Change shower curtains, bath mats and towels to something with deeper fall colors - red, gold, green, burgundy - in a solid color or fall related print.
  • Place candles on the sink a shelf or around the tub. Use several sized pillar on a colored plate surrounded with amber colored stones.
  • Limited counter space, try just a couple of tea light or votive holders in a mosaic pattern or an organic look.
  • Bath accessories - toothbrush holder, soap dish etc. - with a leaf, pinecone or berry motif or a solid fall color is a simple way of bringing the fall theme into the bath.
  • Hang a wreath or fall related pictures on the wall.
  • Wrap faux fall leaf or berry swags around mirrors, medicine cabinets, pictures and window treatments.
  • Set a large wicker basket filled with rolled up towels in fall colors in the corner of the room or near the tub.
By spending a little time now getting your home deco ready for Fall will bring many rewards when those temperatures drop and your spending more time indoors.

Interior Decorating: Fall Decorations

Interior Decorating: Fall Decorations

Newest Tech, Gadgets and DIY at 50% Manza Store https://manzastore.com/

Are you bored with your current home decor? Do you need a break from all things neutral? A great way to put some pizzazz back into your home is to change your style to go along with the seasons.
This Fall features an eclectic mixture of color and texture trends. There are so many hot designs this season, that you can easily find one to suit your tastes.

At this time of year, you want your home to be a cozy space, full of warmth, so choose colors appropriately. The classic colors of Fall include rich chocolate brown, dark shades of green, hints of orange, and deep red. Purchasing accents in these colors is a great way to bring richness into your room without overwhelming it.

Area rugs, pillows, and other accessories like dried flowers are just a few examples.
While the classics will always be in style, there are also some hot new trends for the season that can liven up your space. The first of these is Asian-inspired decor. Any accessories done with an Asian flair are very big this season, and can add an interesting dimension to your already existing decor.

Visit the Ultimate Books Library
Metallics are also hot this year. Candlesticks, picture frames, and even upholstery are coming in shimmery materials. Because metallics have such a strong visual impact, use them in moderation to add visual punch.

Other hot colors right now include black and white, which always looks crisp and modern. Deep red makes a wonderful accent color. And clear accessories are going to be very popular in the coming months.

Nature inspired furnishings and home fashions are very hot right now. Transforming refurbished materials into unique and practical furniture pieces is becoming a new art form. Choose environmentally friendly materials and stylish recycled items. Wrap your room in natural looking colors like rich brown, sage green, or cranberry. Your home will feel warm, inviting, and fresh at the same time.

Bring nature in with decorative trees, and line your vases with attractive stones. The idea is to continue inside what nature is doing outside.

The rococo style is making a big comeback this Fall as well. Rococo is an 18th century French movement that involves very ornate furniture and accessories, mirrors, sculptures, and wall hangings. It is over-the-top elegance. Today, beautiful wallpaper designs can be found in the rococo style, as well as chandeliers, and curtains.

You can either use only a few rococo details, or plan an entire room around this period.

Before redecorating, remember that not all trends will work in your home. Keep in mind the age and architecture of your home, as well as key elements such as what type and color of flooring you have. Take a look at the unchangeable elements of your home before adding too many trendy colors and accessories.
