Interior Decorating with plants : choosing an indoor plant

Interior Decorating with plants : choosing an indoor plant

Indoor plants are a great way to bring the garden inside, adding to interior decor with natural beauty and elegant greenery. There are hundreds of plants that thrive indoors, protected from the harsher conditions of the outside world. Choosing the best interior plants will depend on gardening experience, availability, decor style, and even the architecture of the house itself.

While many plants can benefit from the regulated temperature and light indoors, not all interior plants have the same sunlight or temperature requirements. Plants that require full sun will need to be placed next to large windows, ideally those that receive several hours of sunlight per day. Shade-loving interior plants, such as ferns, will need to be kept in sheltered regions around the house, with access to direct light only. Visit the Ultimate Books Library

In terms of temperature, hardy interior plants can put up with most indoor climates, while exotic and more labor-intensive plants may require environments that are carefully temperature-controlled. If a house contains rooms that can be individually temperature-controlled, it may be easier to grow unusual plants such as orchids. Homes with central temperature control or those with less insulation may permit the use of more tolerant interior plants, such as cacti, bonsai, and herb gardens.

The style of decoration within a house may help determine the best interior plants. Southwestern-style adobes may inspire the indoor gardener to add a few cacti or desert succulents. Tropical inspired decor may be enhanced by the use of rubber trees and orchids. Homes with a traditional British feel may be best served by plants seen in traditional conservatories, such as unusual ferns. Others that use Italian or French design influences can benefit from herb gardens planted near windows, which add both beauty and culinary options.

Though interior plants are protected from outdoor conditions to an extent, the climate of the region will sometimes influence the success of specific plants. Using plants that are local and native to the area may be the best way to ensure hearty growth and bloom, since the sunlight and temperature already suit the plant. Areas that receive rain and overcast skies may not be the best place to try and grow plants that require daily sunlight, while humid climates may flood drought-loving plants with too much moisture.

Gardening experience can also help determine the best kinds of interior plants for a home. Some plants can actually survive on a few drops of water per week, while others require daily spritzing, regular fertilization, and frequent trips outside for additional sunlight. While growing interior plants can be a fun hobby, it can quickly grow tiresome for those uninterested in spending several hours a week maintaining delicate plants. Suiting plant choices to gardening preferences can help keep interior gardening fun for the gardener, and safe for the plants.

Interior Decoration with plants

Interior Decoration with plants

A room is incomplete without a touch of nature.
Unfortunately, as interior plants are often added as last minute accessory items, the decorative containers for such plants are likewise selected in a rushed, haphazard manner.
Before you make a mad dash to the garden center, use these 9 steps to select the right planters for your interior:Visit the Ultimate Books Library

Don't settle. If you've taken time to select stylish furnishings, don't settle for ordinary planters from the corner hardware store. There are countless resources available such as independent retailers, antique stores or online. Spend time to find the right planters.

Understand Scale. The planter size should be in proportion to the plant. For Table top plants, a decorative planter should have a diameter that is at least 1 inch larger than that of the grow-pot (the ugly black nursery pot that the plant comes in). Large floor plants typically require a decorative container with a diameter that is 2 to 4 inches larger than the grow-pot.

No Drainage Holes. Your decorative container should be water tight with no drainage holes, otherwise leakage will cause damage to carpeting and floor finishes. If you select a material that sweats or breathes such as ceramic, use a water tight plastic liner within the planter. If you purchased a planter with holes, carefully fill in the holes with waterproof materials such as epoxy.

Complement the color scheme. Transitional interiors call for contemporary planters with a rich or creamy finish. On the other hand, stark, modern interiors consisting mostly of blacks, whites, and grays need bright-colored planters to cheer up the spaces. Terra cotta and wood planters with waterproof liners are great accents to warm a space.

Look at the hardware. Metallic planters or those glazed with metallic finishes are good defaults for the home or office. Use the color of the knobs, hinges and furniture legs as a guide for selecting the metallic finish. Brushed metallic finishes are more current than shiny ones.

Think series, not groupings. Don't cluster those Peace Lilies in the corner anymore. Create a series. Position the plants linearly or stagger the heights. Tall, V-shaped planters are superb in series of three, and are especially stunning in bright colors.

Select plants before the artwork. Artistic placement of a tall, bright-colored series of planters along a wall or corridor can replace the need for artwork. As plants and planters are rather inexpensive, it will allow you to allocate more of your budget to fewer, nicer pieces of art.

Get focal. When decorating with plants, less is more. A few strategically placed specimen trees in substantial containers produces the 'wow' that finishes a room.

Consult an Expert. Plants and planters are very affordable. If you are unsure on what plants to choose, or which plants will live in your space, consult a professional interior plants-caping company.

All girls love flowers and lots of them, when colorful butterflies are added you’ve got the makings of a very special bedroom. There are so many possibilities to help turn a plain bedroom into her very own Enchanted Garden.

Taking ideas from the Fairies Theme, paint or stencil a large garden trellis on one wall, add lots and lots of colorful flowers growing from the bottom. Help your little ones take a wonderful trip to another Galaxy by using a theme based on the planets in their room. Start with the wall color, deep blues or a blue gray paint color is a good base to continue the theme with. To enhance the walls try using a planet theme wall border or hand painted planets and stars. Using Reflective paint will make your galaxy shine at night.

Accessorizing the room is going to be easy. The following are just a few ideas to get you started

  • Bedding Sets

  • Area Rugs

A Sports Theme

Football Basketball Baseball Soccer ... It could also be Hockey, Car Racing, Horse Racing, Motor Cross, Rugby, Skiing or Swimming the list goes on and on. Most every boy and many girls love some type of sports so if your little athlete is passionate about one or more of them why not fill their bedroom with inspiration.

Begin your hall of fame with the walls. Painting is the easiest and less expensive way to add personality, color choices can include blue, gray or red. Of course a really simple way to dress up the walls is by using art. Whether it’s one particular sport, sports personality or a combination of several, sports posters & photographs are readily available.

Finding the right bedding for your sports theme room will not be difficult. Pretty much everywhere you look you’ll find something related too most sports. You can choose an overall sports theme that includes various types of sports or if you kids love one particular sport or team then look for items dealing with just that particular one. Keep in mind that he or she may love football or baseball today, however next month it could be something else entirely.

So to keep costs down you may want to invest in a solid primary color or simple print bedding and window treatments. Then bring the sports theme in by using accessories, this way when their taste does change your not faced with the expense of changing everything in the room. This includes lamps, area rugs, clocks, mirrors and pictures.

By using a theme to decorate your children’s bedroom, you’ll be giving them a very special place in the home that is just for them.

Curtains and Drapes

Curtains and Drapes for your living room

Newest Tech, Gadgets and DIY at 50% Manza Store https://manzastore.com/

Apart from their functional use, curtains and drapes bring out the best in terms of visual appeal in a room. They add to its aesthetic value and help highlight the remaining furniture and accessories in the room. Simply put, curtains and drapes can be used as a focal point, or as a backdrop to accentuate a focal point you are trying to create. So how can you decide what kind of curtains and drapes are more suited to a living room than any other room in a house? Let's take a look.

Visit the Ultimate Books Library
The choice of drapes for living rooms depends on the purpose you want to use them for. Of course, the first one is to block out the sunlight, but the choice of curtains depends on the amount of sunlight entering the room. For instance, if it is the morning sunlight, you would choose curtains that allow this light to filter into your living room, while you enjoy a cup of tea early in the morning. For this purpose, you could choose light cotton, sheer, or lace curtains. However, window treatments also have to provide privacy during the evening. So having a dual set would be ideal, for you to enjoy your mornings, and privacy in the evenings. On the other hand, if it is the rays of the setting sun that make it through your living room, choosing a darker shade would be ideal to block out these harsh rays. As such, thick cotton, or silk curtains would be a great choice. Silk curtains are slightly difficult to maintain, but since your living room is where you entertain, choosing rich curtains is a good investment. The living room is also the focal point of your house, which is why all measures toward appropriate home decoration should be followed.

As mentioned earlier, apart from the functional use of curtains, they are also used for the purpose of decorating the living room decorating. If you wish to use curtains as a focal point in your living room, then the ideal way to do so is to choose a good pattern and print on the curtains. For instance, a curtain with floral prints would do well in a traditionally decorated living room, while a modern living room would be able to carry off curtains and drapes with geometric prints beautifully. Considering the manner in which you want to drape the curtains is important. For instance, do you want luxurious valances, or do you simply want your curtains to stand out on their own, on a beautiful curtain rod? It is only your personal choice that will matter here.

Colors you choose for your curtains are also important. While the light and privacy factor will help determine the color you choose, the overall decorating pattern and color scheme of the living room will be another factor you will consider. Further, if you want to put up curtains on large windows, keep in mind that the color you choose should not be too dark. A large span of a dark color will make your living room look dull and steal away all the charm it holds. All this together will help you decide the kinds of curtains and drapes you want to choose from.

Finally, the shape of your windows are a big deciding factor. Bay window treatments will vary from window treatments for arched windows. Again, both can be as simple or as luxurious as you want them to. Further, while you may choose shorter curtains for windows, it is ideal to have drapes for French doors to give them the grand look they deserve.
